The Department ofZoology was opened in 2008 along with the Department of Botany and since then only General course has been taught till 2020, under Pt. Ravishankar Shukla University, Raipur (C.G.). The Department started teaching at the Graduate level. Now the college is affiliated to the Hemchand Yadav University, Durg, since 2016. The college gets its name “Govt. RajmataVijaya Raje Sindhiya Kanya Mahavidyalaya” on 13/06/2008. Before it, the College was known by the name “Govt. Kanya Mahavidyalaya, Kawardha”. The Department is now moderately equipped and has been shifted to the New Laboratory at the first floor of the of College.
